Riding the Train and Playing Outside

We rode the Amtrak from Austin to Temple with Lisa Rae and Cory last Saturday.  Popo Gilbert picked us up in Temple, where we went to McDonald's for lunch and the boys wore themselves out on the playscape.
On Sunday we went to Bull Creek, where we went hiking in the woods.  On the way out, we let Eddie and Billy play in the streams.  They had a great time, and we're going back out there this weekend.

When Eddie and Billy were finally allowed to get nice and soaked, they didn't want to leave.

This is how mad Eddie was when we told him we had to go home.

The tickle bug prevailed.

Eddie made some friends and played air hockey at Locomotion on a rainy Saturday evening.

Billy loves to play "grocery store."  He fills his cart, pushes it around, reshelves the groceries, and repeats again and again.

Eddie loves to watch the bands play at Central Market on Thursday and Friday nights.

One story:  out of the blue last night, Eddie asked me if he could wear his chick tie.  I had no idea what he was talking about at first.  He kept talking about his chick tie until I finally remembered the tie Mom made for "Funny Tie Day" last year (picture below.)  I rummaged around in his closet until I found the tie, and he wore it over pajamas until bedtime.  Kyle is working days now, so he picks the boys up and I drop them off.  On our way to school, we made it to the Airport exit (almost to school) and Eddie started yelling "Mom!  We forgot my chick tie!  Turn around and go back home so I can get my chick tie!"  I promised him he could wear the chick tie to school tomorrow.
